Grant Wilson graduated May 2011 from UW-Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance. While he took many 18 credit semesters, it took him 16 years to obtain his degree. After he graduated from high school, he took a semester off because he had no idea what he wanted to do with his life. He only knew that he had an aptitude for numbers and an entrepreneurial predisposition. His entrepreneurial spirit took over in January 1996 when an offer he submitted for a gas station in Mequon was accepted.
The first time Grant ran into accounting he did not like it at all. He found it difficult to understand and follow. He also found it a tad tedious and boring. However, as time passed running his own business, he not only grew to love accounting, he began understanding it's importance in not only seeing how his business performed in the past, but how it could guide him into building more accurate budgets and forecasting of sales and expenses.
Background of Grant Wilson
He owned that station for 8 years when Grant learned everything that has a beginning has an end. Grant did not sell his gas station in the time or manner which Grant had planned on, and he looked upon it as a major failure. While it took a long time for him to come to grips with what had happened, he eventually realized he went through something not many people would in their lives. He failed, but more importantly he went through the failure, saw the signs, realized the mistakes he made, and even gained a little insight as to what he did right. He is now determined to use his experiences in helping others avoid his fate.
Grant is currently is in the process of taking his CPA examinations. He decided that his career path will once again walk hand in hand with being a small business owner. In June 2012, he incorporated GJW Accounting & Tax Service, LLC, as a full service accounting and tax business. Please look at everything we have to offer!
